Faraiday thoughts
Reflecting on the first quarter
Hi everyone, it's Faraiday and I had a thought to write. I'm not sure where this one is going to go.
The first quarter is behind us and i find myself feeling a strong desire to look back and it has been A YEAR already.
It started off with me getting an Electrical Power internship (yes, I'm a student haha) at the company that I wanted to go to because of their renowned reputation and state of the art facilities. That has been going great, my only qualm is how much time and energy it takes from me and the fact that it is unpaid. I'm just grateful that I get to go and I get to acquire some new skills.
On a random day, I summed up enough delusion to propel myself into walking in the Chronicle building and requesting to speak to one of their journalist's in the entertainment section. To which they obliged, called for her to come downstairs and I introduced myself (I was extremely nervous and I was winging it) as an artist/musician. She mentioned that she recognized me from a workshop we had attended a couple of weeks prior, so that was cool. I shared how I had a song + a video that I was releasing soon and needed the press to help me promote the song. It took a while (because I am not a popular figure *yet* and newspapers/blogs want a large set of eyeballs) but eventually she gave in and gave me her details and I reached out immediately after while the encounter is still fresh on her mind. She sent me a set of interview questions and fast forward she sent me an article that had been published on their online platform about my song and I - crazy right?
This is a picture of me on stage at the Poetry on Thursday event held last month at Trade Fair. - It’s been a year.
I've went on to release 3 other videos and 2 songs, it's safe to say - this is the most active I have been in terms of releases and we still have the rest of the year to go.
Is this the best place to announce that I'm currently working on a mixtape? The working title is "Talking to Myself", I don't know if it is going to change in the future but that's what I'm going with right now. If you would like to be apart of the process, you can let me know what songs/instrumentals you'd like for me to rap over and if i catch a vibe - I'm doing it!
I hope you guys have a good day, hug a tree today and smile at onlookers! Stay hydrated.
Farai
